HNoMS Valkyrjen

HNoMS Valkyrjen was a division's ship for the torpedo division of the Royal Norwegian Navy. She was built at F. Schichau shipyard in Elbing, Germany in 1896. The funds for the ship had been raised by the women of Norway and the ship was named Valkyrien in honour of them. She was also nicknamed The ladies warship (Damernes krigsskib). The ship made its first test trial on 11 May 1896 and was swiftly approved. She was completed in Horten, Norway and delivered to the minister of defence on 17 May 1896. The ship was last debarked on 27 September 1920 and sold in 1923.

Valkyrjen had a displacement of 415 tons. Her dimensions were 59.4 x 7.4 x 2.6 metres and she had a top speed of 23.2 knots (43.0 km/h). She was manned by a crew of 59. Her armament included two 76 mm and four 37 mm guns in addition to two above-water torpedo launchers.
